Talking to Callilio's AI

Last updated August 2026

What the assistant does

Callilio provides an AI assistant that answers calls and messages on behalf of the business you are contacting. It can answer questions, take a booking, take a message, or pass you on.

How you are told

On a call, the assistant tells you it is an AI in its opening words — including when it already knows your name. In the chat widget, a label saying you are talking to an AI stays visible for the whole conversation, from the moment it opens.

The business cannot switch this notice off. It is built into the way the assistant opens, not into a setting it can change.

What happens to your data

The audio of a call is turned into text by a speech-to-text provider, the text is sent to a language model to work out the reply, and the reply is turned back into speech. Transcripts and call details are stored so the business can see what was discussed. Whether a call is also recorded as audio is a setting of each business; where recording is on, you are told at the start of the call. The providers involved are named on our subprocessors page.

Limits and responsibility

The AI can make mistakes. It does not make decisions about you as a person, and it does not decide your access to services, employment, credit or benefits. The business you contacted remains responsible for your booking, your request and its own service. Under the EU AI Act this is a limited-risk use of AI, subject to the transparency duty in Article 50.
